Vodickova’s 2015 Podium Tour Continues: Weekend Wrap-up
Czech triathlete and Olympian Radka Vodickova continued her 2015 tour of podiums around the world by taking third place at the IRONMAN 70.3 Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia this weekend. The Human Interest Group congratulates Vodickova for claiming a podium spot at her fourth long-distance race this season.
“When Radka races, there’s a good chance that she podiums. Third place at Sunshine Coast comes after placing second at Challenge Camsur and Challenge Pozan plus a third place at the IRONMAN 70.3 Norway this year. We’ve been impressed with her discipline and competitiveness that exist alongside a quiet and unassuming personality. Radka delivers results in an appealing, almost under-the-radar way,” explains Michael Cardoza, director of The Human Interest Group.
Showing her swimming power, Vodickova exited the water first among the 21 women pros and stayed in the top three throughout the IRONMAN 70.3 Sunshine Coast. Vodickova completed the race at 4:15:10 with a 25:02 swim, 2:25:31 bike, and 1:21:56 run. Vodickova now concentrates on training for a heavy fall season, which includes Beijing Tri, Port Macquarie 70.3, the famous Noosa Tri, Challenge Shapperton, then Challenge Phuket. Radka will also spend some time on the Big Island of Hawaii to support her fiance Brad Kahlefeldt in his debut at the Ironman World Championships.
“I felt better than I did a few weeks ago at the 70.3 Worlds, so I am happy about that. My fitness is taking a bit longer than anticipated after my early season injury but I am encouraged by the progress,” stated Vodickova.
By racing this year’s IRONMAN 70.3 Sunshine Coast, Vodickova also has given her 2016 training plan and race schedule helpful advance knowledge: the Sunshine Coast will host the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship next year.
