Paterson Goes Big Under Big Sky
Missoula, MT — On June 20th, XTerra World Champion Lesley Paterson went big in Big Sky Country, capturing first place among cross-country mountain bike pro women at the Missoula XC presented by Zillastate. The first place victory provides Paterson with valuable UCI points necessary to qualify for mountain biking at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
“Congratulations to Lesley on her victory. This is the second weekend in a row of her finishing first in professional XC mountain biking, and we all expect the same when she races next week in the US Cup in Colorado. Professional Triathlon and the Human Interest Group look forward to cheering Lesley as she pushes for her spot in Rio Olympics,” said Michael Cardoza of The Human Interest Group.
Nineteen other pro women athletes pursued Paterson on the five-kilometer XC course located at Marshall Mountain outside of Missoula, Montana. Paterson completed six laps of the challenging course with just less than a minute on second place finisher Rose Grant.
On June 27th, Paterson will join other professional male and female cross-country mountain bike champions at the Colorado Springs US Cup, the final event of the 2015 pro mountain bike race season in the United States. Following Colorado, Paterson will compete in several European mountain biking championships to accumulate points from the UCI ranking system.
