One of the most beneficial paths an up and coming athlete can choose is to train with an accomplished mentor. Stephen Hackett does just that, looking to world champion, fellow Aussie and good friend Craig "Crowie" Alexander as a training partner and athletic role model. Stephen himself hails from a powerful pedigree, following in the footsteps of his sister, Nicole Hackett, an Australian triathlon star during her professional career. With this combination of good genes, expert guidance and his own rapidly evolving talent, Stephen is poised to excel on the racing circuit. As a relative newcomer to the U.S. racing scene, Stephen won the 2008 Memphis in May Triathlon, a high-profile non-drafting short course event. In late 2009, Stephen hung up his part-time construction worker belt and committed to training and racing full-bore. He showcased his powerful swim by leading out of the water at the 2010 Ironman 70.3 Buffalo Springs, a feat that he often repeats and which sets him up to race far to the front of the professional field. A native of Australia, Stephen joins the world's best triathletes in the training Mecca of Boulder, Colorado during the U.S. racing season, where soon enough he's sure to lead the pack of pros.
